With reference to my letter of the 1st instant, I am directed by the Marquis of Salisbury to transmit to you, to be laid before Her Majesty's Secretary of State for the Colonies, a translation Lasthen 1420 of 08.1/96.08 a Note from the Spanish Government expressing their thanks to Her Majesty's Government for the action which has been taken to prevent filibustering expeditions to the Philippines from British Colonies.
